Chainle FAQ

Short answers about the daily word chain game. For full detail, see how to play.

What is Chainle?

Chainle is a free browser word-chain game. Each day you solve five association rounds: three two-word bridges, one three-word bridge, and one closest-meaning pick.

Is Chainle free?

Yes. The daily puzzle and Unlimited practice mode are free to play in your browser. No account is required.

How many tries do I get?

Each round allows up to three tries. Points drop with each miss (3, then 2, then 1). After three misses the round is revealed and you move on.

What time does the daily puzzle change?

The puzzle uses the UTC calendar date. A new Chainle appears at UTC midnight for everyone.

Can I play more than one puzzle per day?

Daily mode is one shared puzzle per UTC day. Use Unlimited anytime for extra random rounds.

Does Chainle save my streak?

Yes. A streak counter is stored in your browser’s local storage when you finish a daily puzzle with a score above zero. Clearing site data resets it.

Where can I see past days?

The Archive lists soft clues for recent UTC days (title and puzzle number only) without revealing answers.

Is Chainle affiliated with chainle.io or the New York Times?

No. Chainle Game is an independent word-chain puzzle and is not affiliated with chainle.io or the New York Times.
